Buenaventura Zoo & Nature Trails

The Buenaventura Zoo is home to over 250 species, from Panamanian monkeys and felines to exotic pythons and cockatoos, serving as a sanctuary dedicated to environmental education. Visitors can stroll through lush landscapes, engage with interactive exhibits, and discover biodiversity firsthand — an essential experience for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Beyond the zoo, Buenaventura features nature trails winding through the surrounding tropical rainforest, lakes with caimans, iguanas, and turtles, and an aviary with toucans, macaws, and dozens of tropical bird species. Guided dawn tours are available for birdwatching — Panama has over 1,000 bird species, and the Coclé region is particularly rich in biodiversity. Horseback riding through the trails and along the beach is also available.
