Practical Information

Our Tip

San Blas is ideal as a 2-3 day experience. Day one involves a 4x4 drive from Panama City (2.5h on dirt roads) to Cartí port, where a Guna boat takes you to your island. Accommodations are rustic cabins run by Guna families — no wifi, no AC, just hammocks, stars, and the sound of the sea. Meals include fresh fish, lobster (in season), patacones, and coconut. Day two you can island-hop between 3-4 islands, swim in natural pools, and visit Guna communities. For those preferring more comfort, day-trip boats depart from Panama City and include visits to 2-3 islands, lunch, and snorkeling. Our Playa Escondida property is on the same Caribbean coast, perfect as a base before or after San Blas.

A day tour costs $100-150 per person (transport, boat, lunch, snorkeling). One night in a Guna cabin is $60-100 per person with meals included. The Guna Yala comarca entry fee is $20.
