Fort San Lorenzo (UNESCO)

Visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1595 to guard the mouth of the Chagres River. One of the finest examples of Spanish colonial military architecture in the Americas, attacked by both Francis Drake and Henry Morgan. The ruins offer dramatic cliff-top views where the Chagres River meets the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by tropical forest.
